世界客屬總會榮譽總會長暨中國國民黨榮譽主席吳伯雄,於11月07日過境洛杉磯時,除參加南加全僑歡迎吳伯雄先生餐宴與南加州各僑團代表和國民黨黨員和鄕親共敘後,並於短暫過境期間 拜會參觀美國客家會館一大洛杉磯客家活動中心。
受到美國客家會館董事長邱啟宜,董事:姜義正、涂增銘、陳金龍、羅煥瑜、范揚隆、彭義平、彭美杏和客屬社團代表:徐遠權、謝靜華、廖國城、蔡瑞恭等眾多鄉親熱烈歡迎,洛杉磯華僑文教中心副主任丘昌生全程陪同。伯公除參觀和聴取會館簡報,並致詞肯定會館的目標方向,強調台灣2300萬國民,客家人雖只佔400萬人,屬少數族群,但我們不要做弱勢民族，應爭取客家人自我文化認同及尊嚴的提升。他並指出，中華民國這幾年不管是國民黨或民進黨執政,都相當關心客家文化、客家鄕親。相繼成立了中央級的客家委員會、客家基本法,期待我們客家鄕親,海內海外一條心,共創和諧社會,關心國事、心繫鄉里,受到熱烈掌聲支持。伯公特別感佩海外鄉親的傳承客家文化精神和客家會館成立的辛勞,當場抛磚引玉,捐獻美金仟元給會館添置書籍文物。
